A = portion of ROW between Sligo Creek and 16th Place: section mowed once a year or less to allow development of shrub meadow grassland

B = portion of ROW between Sligo Creek and East-West Highway: customarily mowed two or more times per season.

Numbers indicate quantity of individual bees collected

Totals are for general assessment of species and species densities only; what is collected on a given day is dependent on weather, disturbance by humans and animals, and other factors.

When individuals could not be distinguished between two species, both species are listed, e.g. Holictus ligatus/poeyi

On 4/11 and 4/24/13 a second path in Section A was surveyed. The data were not included in the 2013 Table but are included here to highlight two species, Nomada denticulata and Lasioglossum forbesii collected in only this section.

* Individuals of this genus not identified to species levels

** Species in this group of the genus Nomada are difficult to distinquish and customarily listed as bidentate group species

Bee survey supervised by ecologist Rhonda Kranz in cooperation with the Friends of Sligo Creek and the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center

Survey done using "bee bowl trap" protocol provided by Patuxent Wildlife Research Center, US Geological Survey

Identification carried out by staff and volunteers at the USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center Bee Inventory and Monitoring Lab under supervision of Sam Droege
