Sligo Night Herons

(prev) Preening a wing
Wings spread for preening
June 27. Heron fledgling with wings spread for preening. Even on the chicks, the wings are beautiful and graceful. I haven't seen the chicks since this date. They no longer need to return to the nest and are harder to locate. They are very likely fishing in more sheltered parts of the creek, early in the morning and late in the evening.
