Stormwater

Plunk! Plunk!
A storm brings needed raindrops to Sligo Creek. But storms also sweep pesticides, oil, dirt, and trash from our homes, lawns, and roads into the creek. In our neighborhoods, rain is channeled into stormdrains, flows through pipes, and roars into the creek at high speeds. This fast-flowing water erodes streambanks, undermines tree roots, and uncovers buried sewer pipes. By encouraging stormwater to seep into the ground more slowly, we can keep the creek cleaner and more inviting for frogs, fish, trees, and people, too!
