Removing Kudzu

Killing the kudzu can be done by tracing back the vine to the ground runner to the root crown.
Cut the root just below the crown.

Trace back the vine to the ground runner.

Trace back the runner towards the root crown.
The runner lies on the ground and is brown.
Sometimes the runner is an inch in diameter.

The runner enters the ground at a root crown.
A root crown will usually have multiple runners.

Digging is needed to expose the root crown.

Cut the root just below the crown.
On private property the cut root can be painted with an herbicide.
If herbicide is not used, repeated cutting is necessary.
