RIP, the Removing Invasive Plants Project, welcomes help from school students in restoring the Park. No previous knowledge is necessary.
To join scheduled events, tell the Leader in advance that you are earning hours. RIP Event Schedule The Maryland State Department of Education mandated student service learning as part of the high school diploma requirement in public schools in 1994. If five students earn fifteen service hours in Sligo over the course of a school year, 75 hours of work is done. This accomplishes an amazing amount of plant work!
More Information Prince Georges County Schools Prince Georges County students can start their service learning the summer after eighth grade, and they must complete 36 hours by graduation. For information see your school service learning center. More Information, Montgomery County Schools Montgomery County students can start earning their service hours after they complete Grade Five.
