Maryland DNR Stream Waders Program |
As part of its macroinvertebrate monitoring program, Friends of Sligo Creek participates in the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Stream Waders Program. This program sends volunteers to Maryland streams to collect macroinvertebrate samples which are delivered to DNR laboratories for identification. Watersheds are designated for these collections on a rotating basis every two to four years. Friends of Sligo Creek participated in this program in the March and April of 2004, 2006, and 2008 and plans to do so again when Sligo Creek is designated to be surveyed.
Results from the surveys can be found in the Stream Waders database. The locations of the Sligo Creek Stream Waders sites can be seen on the Friends of Sligo Creek Macroinvertebrate Monitoring Sites page.
